I don't think the AI will be able to handle flanking, or, rather, facing as a tactical option. Then again, it could be optional when you start a game, so you can play with flanking and enhanced tactics against other human players, but turn it off when playing solo, so as not to give yourself too muc...

Hehe! I've always liked the insane look of a large Klackon city with a couple of medieval human buildings thrown in... :lol: Seriously, different buildings for different races would be great. But for me, limiting it to the already different Housing styles would work best, instead of having different...

If the queen's main ability is to spawn additional units, they don't have to be good. She can just stand in the background summoning unit after unit, flooding the enemy with useless little Klackons... :lol:

Hehe! We should let the martial types stay spell-less, for sure! Of course, the ant queen wouldn't have any other way to produce extra units, so she might be an exception. The more I think of it, however, the more I see flaws with the "summon random unit" spells. We had better produce a go...

I think "Arcane" fits best for summoning regular units, and units similar to them, but what I want is a means to give a hero a spell which cannot be researched by wizards, so that it can be very specific. The ant queen could have her ant swarm spell, but it wouldn't be quite as fun to watc...

It should be possible to create a spell, or a group of spells, which do not appear in the spell research lists of the wizards, I think. That group could contain spells which are known by heroes and even other units, making them mostly unavailable to those who shouldn't know them. Of course, it is on...

Yeah... But I don't think there is any such effect in the game now, so you're back to adding a lot of programming again, I'm afraid. Well, maybe we are better off making the swarm she spawns a separate unit, something like the Phantom Warriors unit. But if there is a problem with summoning more than...

Yeah, the unit must disappear after battle, or you'll get no end of trouble with spawning and stuff. As for the unit type, I can totally see an ant queen summon a random Klackon or Beeman unit, but it wouldn't make sense to see her summon a Dark Elf unit... I have no idea if it possible to make such...

How about two random Klackon units? Of course, nothing stronger than Halberdiers, but it would still be fun to see what comes up.

That would take a fair bit of programming, I think. None of the units in the original game has more than eight figures per base, so you'd have to mod that in, I imagine. Can't the Queen summon, say, two units at once instead?

Yes, but those planes need not be very large, and might not have quite resources necessary to become a powerhouse. It's all a matter of tweaking.

Congratulations on your degree, Lucern! I like the way you think concerning both races and planes. I agree that Arcanus should be the "hub" plane, enforcing its importance compared to the others. The towers leading to Myrror today should keep that function, I think - other means should be ...

I doubt we can come up with hundreds of well-conceived races, but I like the spirit, Korenn! :D

Of course, if the races can be determined when starting a game, that would be cool, but you'd lose some of the surprise...

Let's try to get a couple more planes to put all the weirdest races into.
