Re: I will pay $100 bucks to those involved.
actually, the very act of making this game can already be cause for some cease and desists letters to fly. the only reason that is not happening is because Microprose is currently owned by Cybergun Group, which is a manufacturer of airsoft guns. This particular IP is probably in lockup though. Havin...

Re: I will pay $100 bucks to those involved.
I think the issue here is not so much a matter of money, but a matter of time. Most of us, despite being enthusiasts, just don't have the know how or the time to dedicate to this kind of project.

Re: MOM 2.0 Upload
I can't believe I JUST got this. So here I am... 2 years late to the party. Anyway, thoughts... summons are actually really good now overall. Sure, I still stick to my staples (i.e. I still love me some phantom warriors) but it seems like I can actually find a use for every unit. I didn't realize ho...

Re: Current state of MoM IME
virm is the man. I do hope that virm will get enough credit with implode that he'd be willing to let Virm handle more of the codebase. It's a real shame that the project stalled. Of course, this IS a labor of love that he provides for free, so we can't complain. But I do think that it would be benef...

Re: MoM IME Expanded
hmm... I'm still not quite convinced that adding flanking (and by that token, facing) as an actual in-game factor is such a good idea. I mean, sure, you can start doing some interesting stuff with the game, but then that means high mobility units are going to be just THAT much more powerful. With a ...

Re: Do you need a game Designer?
at this point, the goal is simply to replicate a functioning game as it once was.
anything beyond that is basically just us being hopeful. Not that we can't use more game designers to look at the work, but the reality is at this phase the goal is not rebalancing and such.

Re: A quick primer on how to balance a game and how this applies
I suppose that would work for a first pass analysis phase. And if the tools to do so exists, I would heartily give it a go myself. I've actually been kind of out of the whole MoM mindset for a while though, due to some shifts at work and the board prior being completely overrun with spammers. anyway...

hmm... that seems like a good way to do it. and from there you can just add on to create more "leadership" like abilities.

Now THAT is interesting. I think that would be a great candidate for a new ability!Tino Didriksen wrote: So what is missing is a First Strike variant which would work when defending.

Re: MoM IME Expanded
So, say two units are engaging in battle, one has first strike, while the other has negate first strike AND first strike. logically from my stand point, I think what would happen is the system checks for the negate first strike, and proceeds with the negation when found, and then proceeds to give th...

Re: MoM IME Expanded
well, you do have a point there. The game already handles sprite facing, so yeah, I guess from a crude implementation standpoint, you could just drop that in quick and dirty like. The question then becomes how is the facing information handled. This, of course, means that the phalanx ability to hit ...

Re: MoM IME Expanded
I don't think putting in facing would be a good idea at all. Trying to implement facing mechanics would fundamentally change how battles are conducted, not to mention you'd have to put in control schemes for facing control, which is another layer. to me, I think if we want to add new abilities, we r...
