thought it hovered over the buildings? I read some mentions about that in the FAQ too after I posted my question. The city I tried casting it on didn't have any shrines, etc. so that would explain it. I'm just going to make the demon head appear once in the corner... it'd be a lot of faffing about ...

I remember there being another bug, where you could cast combat only summons (phantom beast!) and then word of recall them out of the battle, they'd end up at your summoning circle, and viola! a permanent phantom beast (or fire elemental, etc) with no upkeep! when comparing the spells of the different colors in the original MoM you must remember that a lot of the spells were very buggy - either they didn't work at all, or had hidden benefits, or even (death magic, I'm looking at YOU) worked in REVERSE in my humble opinion, perhaps it's best to make all ...

Fixed in 0.8.9
I've fixed this in 0.8.9, although that won't be available for at least another month. It now stores all path-related settings in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE so they work for all users, and user-specific settings such as the name last used and chosen language under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Yeah, I had a few problems with the french XML file, but only what I was expecting. e.g. the retort names have accents in them, and they're used as the title of various help text pages, so that font didn't include accents so crashed (you probably tried running it yourself and found that too)... and ...
