I don't think SOM is a strategy. I mean a way or another, you'll need a good reasearch, a good skill and plenty of mana. Anyway, you'll need to increase your manas production. I personally feel that the paladins are something we definitely need to fix somehow. As of right now, they are simply too good of a unique. If I have to make a homemade rule, I would said their strenght is egal to the square of their standard mana cost or production cost (just in case) (900:6400 or 14,06%) at least it should make the Gardian spirit useful in regard to their cost (30:80) but since we know that, in fact, you will succeed ...

Ranged units should do a great job. But low level ranged units are not that good, they need to have a good experience if you want them to be efficient. Also magic weapons are useful for this (alchemist guild or Alchemy). Of course, races that have specialised ranged troops are best. (long bowmen,ran...

Sounds good. But why a race with only flying troops would bother about building roads or crushing walls ?
