100% CPU usage processor temp hot

Hi.

First of all.. after playing the original mom for years and then redownloading it a few months ago... I just want to say i love you so much.. you eliminated some of my biggest pet peeves about the game... just in the setup.. as ive not gotten to play the actual game yet..

However im encountering two problems that have me very worried..

1) anytime im running MOM IME client and server... CPU usage jumps to 100% .. i find it hard to believe the applications are taxing my 2.6 P4 that much...

2) ... my processor core temperature is usually about 54 to 58 Celsius... when im running a really intense game like IL-2 (flight sim) or BF 2142... on a rough day.. it will jump to 66.... however after running the client and server for only 5 minutes my Processor temp was already 70 degrees celsius... the P4 2.6 that i have has a threshold of 82 and i never try to let it within 10 degrees of that.. I always shut it off when it hits 70 cause im not frying my processor for anything.

What are the reasons for these two problems.... the usage i believe is causing the overheating.... and it would do it even before i began setting the game up.. Any suggestions?

I figured out the problem .. apparently during the setup making the map 500 x 500 isnt a good idea... my apologies

Although i got rid of that pesky problem in startup.. Ive encountered 2 more problems in teh game

1) it does drag to 100% CPU usage even in the game...

2) game options menu doesnt work? - no way to save my games etc.

Processor usage may just be something you need to live with for the time being. It may improve some when Implode finishes the next test release, but I wouldn't hold my hopes too high on that. The server process is probably what's killing your proc cycles, and you might try having the server set and running on another machine if there's one available to you to see if that helps?

As for being unable to save a game and such, these are known issues in the sense that Implode hasn't added them to the game yet. Something to bear in mind is that this is still a work in progress and has not yet reached version 1.0 for release. Perhaps half of what we would expect to happen within a normal game are things which just aren't possible in the current version because the code for those events and processes hasn't been written yet.

Work on the project is also proceeding much slower that it has in the past, in part due to the complexity of what needs to be worked on now, and in part because of life and other distractions that keep Implode from spending as much time developing the game. He's assured us that work will continue and it will be finished eventually, but it will take some time.

Virm..

I completely understand that this is still a beta project.. Ive been a member of sourceforge for many years and know my ropes.

HOWEVER a game save file would be necessary to display bugs or errors to implode...

On a secondary note... I dont think the CPU temp is a server client problem.... When i was int he game the CPU temp would drop significantly when i let the game sit idle.. when i clicked something scrolled or hit next turn .. boom.... it starts jumping... :-) although i will try to work on testing that theory of yours that it has to do with the server and client being run on the same machine

update... ive changed pcs to a quad core ..... its threshold is 61 celsius ... the game was making my single core jump to 68 to 70 celsius... im going to test this game 1 time on my new processor.. anything over 58 and i will abandon testing it until its updated
