I've disabled new registrations on the forum until I can get the pages of spam posts somewhat under control, and am starting to go through cleaning all these off.

Many thanks!

If you can see my Foe list, all those users are spambots.

Also, I really want to help...I can modify phpBB with Akismet to block the spam from even being posted.

I'll try to get the board updated to phpBB 3.0.6 first. Had a quick look at Askimet, so its an API, there's no pre-done "phpBB with Askimet already integrated" that you can download? I don't know enough php to do it myself, and while I don't mind giving trustworthy people admin access on the boards to help clean off spam, I'm not too comfortable giving out the FTP password for the site... but if you could get the phpBB 3.0.6 source, modify the files and send them to me, would that work...?

16kb zip containing akismet.php and posting.php:
http://tinodidriksen.com/uploads/akismet.zip

- akismet.php is new
- posting.php has been modified, and the changes are at the top starting at AKISMET BEGIN ending at AKISMET END

Updated to phpbb 3.0.6, so post here if you have any problems with the board. Haven't applied the spam filter yet, and away for a week now so will do it when I get a chance.

At least the place won't be flooded with junk anymore (hopefully).

Have plugged in Akismet, see how it goes ^^ if no problems with legit posts, I'll re-enable registrations and see how much junk we still get.

Thanks very much Tino for the files for this ^^

Legit posts can bypass the spam protection via the secret handshake that is displayed when a post is rejected, so that is not a huge issue. And it can be tuned to allow through known people, if needed...
