Re: Still alive :)
I'm more than willing to check on a work list for the server components once you feel they're stable enough for others to work on. I can't promise much speed in working on it due to real-world time constraints, but I'm willing to do what I can. Any access restrictions on the sourceforge repository? ...

Re: Still alive :)
Unless Implode dictates otherwise (or beats me to it), I will be sending a general notice sometime next week that the boards will be going offline. It is my sincere hope that Implode will continue to work on this project or will release the existing code base to a managed repository in some fashion....

Re: Still alive :)
I don't mean you any disrespect, but you should be aware of the responsibility you assume creating a site/project like this. Thousands of people were very stoked over seeing this completed...about 5 years ago. When you stir up that kind of interest, and just disappear without even leaving a code ba...

Find the .LBX you need, I threw them all up there for the moment.
You'll want to be quick about it if possible, as they'll be taken down in about a week.

Re: Current state of MoM IME
I don't believe so. I haven't seen file-level access available through the interface. As it is, I'm finally getting the hang of some of the available tools for killing off the bots, so they should be less prolific for a while.

Re: Which game concepts in MoM are broken?
brief comment on Magic immunity: While I agree that no magic should be castable on a unit with magic immunity, I see no reason why existing spells active on the unit should be dispelled upon acquiring immunity. If we're thinking in terms of layered enchantments, than anything already cast upon a uni...

Re: Current state of MoM IME
Project update: Due to factors in Implode's life presently diverting him from this project, I have been granted temporary admin status upon the board to help keep the bots at bay. As Implode finds time, he will also be granting me limited access to his codebase to help with the transition to Java. I...

Re: A quick primer on how to balance a game and how this applies
Well, as a temporary alternative to both existing propositions of running random samples with the AI, or recording the statistics from player-driven games (this category would include the partially guided AI simulations), we could actually do this as a hard numbers game. All aspects of the game are ...

Re: Current state of MoM IME
There are two things to consider for what you're proposing, Coyote and Darkpriest667. First: Although, based on past posts throughout the forum, there's a few people interested who would actually be capable of continuing the code-building needed to continue and complete the project, this is a signif...

Re: 100% CPU usage processor temp hot
Processor usage may just be something you need to live with for the time being. It may improve some when Implode finishes the next test release, but I wouldn't hold my hopes too high on that. The server process is probably what's killing your proc cycles, and you might try having the server set and ...

Re: MoM IME Expanded
Wouldn't that completely botch up the programming? I'm no programmer, but in a related forum once someone wanted to add a unit, only to find that not only did everything for that side have to be reprogrammed, the AI had to be 'taught' how to apply decision making for the unit, be programmed how to ...

Re: Autodumping Units/Buildings - no good idea, and here is why
I think at this point we're mostly agreed that it's not a bad idea in principle. However, in light of Dyslexic Q-Thief's comments, to really be worthwhile and make resource disruption a truly viable tactic any automated conversion amongst resources should be done at the end of the players turn, rath...

Re: Undead heroes
It could be argued that such a city and units produced thereby would still need rations. Just because what they're harvesting for rations is other races that have been placed in slavery for breeding and killing to eat their flesh, doesn't mean it's not rations or isn't required for their (undead) su...

Re: Autodumping Units/Buildings - no good idea, and here is why
Ragnar-gd: Yeah, that mostly makes sense, except that any excess rations are already being automatically converted into gold at the end of each turn and there is no ration stockpile, so you can take that as <food> always <= 0, but maybe assume that the ration --> gold conversion happens before this ...

Re: Autodumping Units/Buildings - no good idea, and here is why
That's a lot of game mechanics to be throwing in, and some of it still wouldn't make any sense from a player standpoint. Especially in regards to the auto-destruction/-debanding of units, there's likely to be a warning box that appears when you try to end your turn that tells you that you don't have...
