I agree that 11 book starts should be removed, or that will be all you see. In fact, I would wager that 11 book white would be the choice of most/all players who want to win - it is far and away the most powerful setup, and easily trumps 11 black (the other super fast starting setup). But there is n...

No books
Ah yes - the myrran, alchemy, warlord, channeler, famous, charismatic setup. This is the hardest setup, I think. I won a game with the trolls after 3 losses, lost 3 or 4 with beastmen, and Im now going for the draconian. And its a bitch. The problem with the trolls was movement, and with the dracos ...

Re. single city
I just did a couple of these, they are fun. The 11 white with SOL (like Implode described) worked very well. I dont use Torin, but I got lucky and got Roland for my first champion, and he basically ruled the world by himself (merchant sold me the wraithform sheild and I got a nasty flaming axe, cast...

Re. Wall of Fire
I think the problem is the same as the one with immolation - the 4 attack is applied per-unit and not per-figure. If it was per-figure it would accomplish the intended goal of frying 1-hit scrubs that try to go through - a little, anyway (like a default strength fireball spell). It would still be wo...

hmm
The poster above has it right - forget the crappy chaos buffs. re. Chaos I posted this earlier.... Chaos is hard to play, because it requires a tremendous amount of both magic skill and mana to be effective. The best strat revolves around summoned beasts + chaos channeled units + warp reality. Much ...

Here are some things to make impossible easy...
To get used to impossible (especially the computers rabid production and mana), use the 11 book strats, as they greatly increase your early power, which is the only dangerous part of the game. 11 white: Some use Torin (incarnation), but you will get him later anyway and he takes forever to cast+gear...

Re. Rebalancing....
Just found the site, great idea, trying out the MP now....as far as balancing the 1.31 version I have some opinions, which as we all know, are as common as the venerated sphincter of bodily waste.... as someone who has played literally thousands of hours of this game, and who has worked professional...

re impossible
It all depends on the map - sometimes you REALLY should settle that fat river valley , esp if your home city is on bad land. Otherwise, let the AI build up cities. The key to winning is usually getting to myrror early and snagging a few neutrals there, or being lucky enough to clean up your land mas...
